Legacy

We are just one of the subsidiaries created by our parent company, Goldbelt, Inc., to support our Alaska Native shareholders.

Incorporated in the early 1970s, Goldbelt, Inc. was founded as an urban Alaska Native Corporation (ANC) under the 1971 Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA), the largest single federal settlement of Native American claims. Under the ANCSA, each corporation distributed 100 shares of stock as a birthright to its shareholders, and any Alaska native born on or before December 18, 1971 was eligible to enroll in an ANC. Goldbelt’s shareholders include members of the Tlingit and Haida tribes, and our shareholders view their stock as a legacy beyond value, an inheritance meant to be passed on to future generations.

For many years, Goldbelt, Inc., named after a richly mineralized zone in Southeast Alaska, harvested timber from lands received in the Settlement Act and eventually expanded into tourism activities around Juneau. In 2000, Goldbelt, Inc. began forming subsidiaries to do business with the Federal government. Today, LifeSource Biomedical, LLC, is ready to succeed for our shareholders, customers, and employees.
